Winter Trade Days at the Fort November 24-25

Fire Side Chats - 2/2/2008, 2/9/2008, 2/16/2008, 2/23/2008
Fort Boonesborough State Park and the Fort Boonesborough Foundation will be holding a series of ``Fireside Chats" with famous characters from Kentucky history each Saturday evening in February. There will be a ``Taste of Frontier Fare" from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. The program begins at 7 p.m. at the block house. Tickets are $15 for adults or $25 for a couple. Children 12 and under are $5 each. Reservations are required due to limited seating. For reservations or information, call 859-527-3131 Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. or email: ftboone@bellsouth.net . All proceeds benefit the Fort Boonesborough Foundation. Fort Boonesborough is located near Richmond. From I-75, take exit 95 to KY 627. On I-64, take exit 94 to KY 627.

Brain Tanning Workshop - 3/15-16-17, 2008
This is a hands-on three-day workshop on brain tanning a deer skin to produce leather as used by Native Americans and early settlers on the frontier. This workshop will be conducted by Jim Green, and limited to 7 participants. Contact Jim at 502-618-0702 or nativewarrior@insightbb.com

Frontier Stations Under Attack - @ Boone Station - April 19-20, 2008
Not all conflicts at frontier stations have been mentioned in major accounts of our history. This event is representative of documented incidents that occurred during attacks on Stations such as Ruddle's, Martin's, Morgan's, Strode's and many others on the Kentucky frontier. While not always playing a significant part in the larger picture of the Revolutionary War, these were life and death situations to many families of our early settlers. Visit camps of settlers and Native Americans as you learn about life during such times at early stations. See demonstrations of 18^th century daily life and skills required to survive on the frontier. Battle reenactments at 2pm each day.

18th Century Trade Fair - 5/24/2008 to 5/25/2008
18th Century Trade Fair- Visit a social, political, and business gathering of merchants, traders, artisans, Native Americans, militia members, beggars, longhunters, scouts, and other characters. Listen to period music, visit camps and shop for 18th century goods as you compare life today to life 225 years ago. See a weekend of 18th century history come to life! This event is free with a paid admission to the Fort. The event is 9am -5:30 pm Saturday and Sunday, 9am-2pm Monday.

Women on the Frontier - 6/21/2008 to 6/22/2008
Women on the Frontier- Saturday and Sunday, June 21-22, 2008. The life experiences of frontier women will be presented during this two-day interpretive and interactive program. Included will be ongoing demonstrations of daily life skills and the many tasks done by women on the frontier. There will be discussions and documented events of the frontier in which women were the main participants, and characterizations of individuals who experienced some of these dramatic events. The event is from 9 am-5:30 pm each day and is free with a paid admission to the Fort.

Living History - Military/Militia Muster - 6/26/2008 to 6/27/2008
Our regular monthly Living History Weekend for July includes special participation by members of Keller's and Logan's Companies of the Illinois Regiment. See and visit the encampment of these groups and settlers as well. Watch as the units drill and practice the martial skills of the frontier. Join up as a new recruit from the visiting public and participate in musket drill and marching. Hear and see the story of the defense of the frontier. This event is free with regular paid admission to the fort.

The 1778 Siege of Boonesborough - 9/27/2008 to 9/28/2008
Saturday and Sunday, September 27-28, 2008. Battle reenactment 2 pm each day. Special ``Night Battle" at dusk on Saturday evening. Come early and spend the day learning about 18th century life in Kentucky. A Living History reenactment including Militia and settlers camps, Native American village, merchants, traders, food, and more. Visit the 18th Century Store and Gift Shop. This event is free with regular paid admission to the fort.

Hammer-in 10/04/2008 to 10/05/2008
See and learn about an ancient craft kept alive even to this day! Join a group of Blacksmiths as they gather to demonstrate projects and techniques, trade ideas and information, swap tall tales of the forge, and offer hand forged items for sale. Blacksmiths are also invited to bring along their portable forges, start up a fire, and join in! Find out the answers to your questions, and maybe even try your hand at a simple forging project. This event is free with regular paid admission to the fort.

A Kentucky Woodsman's Weekend - 11/01/2008 to 11/02/2008
A weekend learning seminar for reenactors, teachers, historians, and others interested in learning more about the life and times of the Kentucky frontier. Presentations cover a number of topics related to the material culture, skills, and processes used by woodsmen and others to survive on the frontier. There is a $50 fee for the seminar. Winter Trade Days at the Fort - 11/29/2008 to 11/30/2008
18^th Century merchants and traders in period clothing set up shops in the buildings of the fort. All items for sale are typical of things available in the 18^th century. Fort opens at 9am each day. This is a great opportunity to do your 18^th century Holiday gift shopping! There is no admission charge for this event.
