The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels is a charitable organization established in 1931. Following a tradition begun in 1813 - Kentucky Colonels are appointed by the Governor of the Commonwealth. The annual reunion BBQ tops off the Kentucky Derby. The event annually attracts Kentucky Colonels from all across the USA and several foreign nations.  It is held to honor and thank the individuals who voluntarily contribute to the charitable efforts of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. The Reunion BBQ is open to members only of The Kentucky Colonels. Also in attendance was Governor Ernie Fletcher (pictured at left with Re-Enactor Pam Ray Phillips.)

Over 25 Organizations that benefit from The Kentucky Colonels were on hand providing information and entertainment. Other groups present were: Blue Moon Artworks, The Kentucky History Mobile, Raptor Rehabilitation, The Painted Stone Settlers, The 9th Michigan Regiment and the 6th Regiment Indiana, Thumbelina - the World's Smallest Horse, and The Whiskey City Cruisers (car show) .

The Kentucky Humanities Council  - Chautauqua peformers roamed the grounds portraying famous Kentuckians. Perennial favorites Henry Clay and George Rogers Clark were joined by Rosie the Riveter,  Ruth Booe, Grandpa Jones, Miss Dinnie Thompson and Sally Ward.
