Link to Historic Locust  Grove

Visitors to Locust Grove saw an unusual site at the spring encampment. Re-Enactor Samantha Hickle paid tribute to her father Eugene Rush in an unusual way. The last re-enactment father and daughter attended together was at Locust Grove in the spring of 2004. So Hickle decided to pay her respects in 18th century style by appearing in mourning as a lady would have done, fashioning her gown after a1780's painting,

Hickle of Napolean, Indiana explained to visitors about her father's passing. She had told her father before his final illness, late last fall, of her intentions. She and her husband Kevin are members of Kellar's Company of the Illinois Regiment.  Her father Eugene Rush was 83 years old at his death. He was born in Dayton, Ohio and was a lifelong resident of Middletown, Ohio where he worked for Armco Steel.
